Where Not to Use Coral Wandepoxy Epoxy: Pools, Water Tanks and Glazed Ceramic
Coral Wandepoxy is not indicated for pools, water tanks or glazed ceramic floors, and is internal use only. The surfaces the sheet rules out.
The Coral Wandepoxy technical sheets name three surfaces the system is not indicated for: pools, water tanks and glazed ceramic floors. Knowing these limits before buying matters, because the epoxy is also described as an internal-use product with specific application conditions.
Surfaces the sheet rules out
Across the primer, filler and enamel bulletins, the same exclusion appears: the products are not indicated for pools, water tanks or glazed ceramic floors. For glazed ceramic in particular, the distinction is that ordinary tiles can receive the enamel once degreased (especially at the grout lines), while glazed ceramic floors are outside the indicated surfaces.
Internal use, not external
The epoxy enamel is described as a product indicated for internal use. The sheet lists its applications as bathrooms, kitchens, canteens, hospitals, industrial and domestic piping and concrete floors. Among floors, the indication is for light traffic, and the sheet does not list the system for heavy traffic.
Conditions to avoid during application
Even on an indicated surface, the result depends on the application conditions the sheet sets out:
- Avoid rainy days.
- Avoid temperatures below 10°C or above 40°C.
- Avoid relative humidity above 85%.
- Avoid hot surfaces exposed to the sun.
Surfaces that need treatment first
Two cases call for prior treatment rather than direct application. If wood is deteriorated and infested by fungi or termites, or if metal carries heavy rust, the product should not be applied without first treating the surface and following the instructions for each case. Internal wood must be dry, with less than 18% moisture, since green or damp wood should not be painted.
Where it does fit
The same film that is ruled out for pools and glazed ceramic is specified for internal metal and for tiled rooms. Its behaviour by environment is detailed in the guide on moisture and chemical resistance of Coral Wandepoxy epoxy, its use on metal in Coral Wandepoxy epoxy paint for metal, and its use on tiles in how to apply Coral Wandepoxy epoxy on bathroom and kitchen tiles. The technical bulletins are published at coral.com.br, and the products are sold through the Coral store.
